Yes you should definitely get it taken care of sooner than later. It can affect their speech and the entire look of their face as the age. It's relatively cheap and very quick if they are young.

Yes it can and its better to have it corrected in the first few months. As they get older they would have to be admitted for surgery and knocked out. My son was 2 months and it was a quick procedure maybe 10 min from start to finish.
