So me and my husband have been married for a little over a year now and we have a 3 almost 4 month old daughter. He just enlisted last week to go into the national guard and will be leaving for basic training March 1st of next year. Then he’ll be going for his job training but he’ll have his phone for that time at least. He’d be able to visit but with covid they won’t allow it sadly. Which means our daughter will be almost 7 months old. How do you guys cope with your husband or SO being away for long periods of time? He’ll be gone until a couple weeks before our daughter turns 1. Which means he’ll be gone from March to probably August which to me seems forever just because I hate being alone due to my anxiety and depression especially since it’s worse due to postpartum. I’m being treated but I still feel very sad when thinking about it. Also I’m only 19 and he’s 20. We’ll both be 20 when he leaves. I also struggle to be happy for him. This is his dream he’s wanted to serve forever but all I can think about is the fact that I’ll be raising our daughter on my own. Does anybody have an experience or any advice for me at all? Please help... all I wanna do now is spend time with our family before he leaves and I am so so afraid our daughter will be upset and notice he’s gone and I have no idea how that will go. She’s definitely a mommas girl but after being with me all day she definitely loves her dad. He’ll also be states away we live in Missouri and he’ll be riding a plane all the way over to South Carolina. I hope we’ll be able to have some kind of communication and I’ll be able to send pictures and update him on our daughter. Okay rant over.
