Grief for being team green?

Question

Anyone else’s family giving them grief for waiting to find out the gender? Everyone’s asking why in the world we would wait, or telling us we won’t actually be able to not find out. I wasn’t expecting them to give us such a hard time! They mean well but it’s actually a little stressful to me lol. Anyone else?? Wasn’t expecting this reaction.

My husbands awful family gave him crap over the phone but they know I would shut that down so never around me. It was the best thing and we are doing it again for this baby. I am 13 weeks and not finding out until birth again. It was amazing and I loved it. People would ask what I was having and I just said "a baby..hopefully human". Tended to shut them up lol. Just ignore them...or go off and use pregnancy hormones as an excuse haha. But it is awesome and hope you enjoy it as much as we did!! Congrats!!

I got that all the time from my friends and cousins during my first two pregnancies that we stayed surprised. But we just said we want to be surprised! And by the time baby came , they were all on the edge of their seats to find out the gender :) 
I know it can be annoying and not a lot of people can choose to have the self control to wait, but it is absolutely AMAZING the impact it has on you when that baby is delivered and you hear the doctor say “it’s a ———!”   I recommend anyone that plans to have multiples be surprised at least once. 
We have a boy and a girl, so we are actually going to find out the gender for the first time with baby 3 :)

Be the ones that were too old to have the technology to know what they were having 30-40+ years ago. Maybe they don’t understand why we don’t if we can?!?!

I really wanted to wait to find out. Partially because I think the surprise will help motivate me through labor, and also because I just don’t want to hear anyone else’s opinions about my baby and I don’t want a whole bunch of super gendered gifts. My partner got really upset about this and it took us a few days to get to the root of it. He just needs to feel a connection with baby and feels that knowing the sex and calling them by name will help him bond. So we’re compromising. He gets to know but we’ll keep it a secret until I’m ready to announce. My mom is furious but she’ll get over it.
