On Break

Today is day 5 of our first break in the relationship since we started dating 2.5 years ago. We live together so the whole “break” thing is difficult. Anyways we were both deprived and horny, so we had the most amazing time in bed last night. As soon as we finish and are refreshing ourselves, he says “this meant nothing, we’re still on break. we are nothing more than whores who succumbed to lust”. There was a tiny bit of an underlying joking tone to it but when i tried to cuddle him (as one typically does after a night like ours) he tells me no, the time we had changed nothing. Is this normal? Like Id hate to stereotype all women together in this comment, but as a women i get very emotional and sentimental, so after being intimate with him I figured we were ok...better than ever if i’m being honest. Is it normal for a man to tell his significant woman that the sex meant nothing because the couple is on break?
