Kindergarten Students Christmas

Question

I’m a first year kindergarten teacher and want to get my students each a small Christmas present, but I am stumped. Does anyone have any ideas of things that they’ll enjoy that don’t cost much per gift? Maybe some ideas of things your child has received from a teacher in the past and really enjoyed.

As a teacher I’d get everyone the same $1 scholastic book and use any rewards our classroom had earned towards it. Another cute idea I’ve seen is melting the broken crayons into rainbow crayons in a heart shape.

I recommend not doing the lotion/hand sanitizer deal. My daughter has horrible eczema so she has to have special hand sanitizer and lotion. So no kids fee left out I would steer from this. I know it seems like a good idea with Covid but could make kids feel excluded. Or a kid may decide to try it on cause that’s what kids do and have a reaction or break out bad.

I used to teach 3rd grade and I always got my students books for Christmas. I’d pick out a book based on what each student was interested in, so each kid got a different one. I would usually make a goodie bag with the book, holiday pencils, some candy, erasers, play doh, crayola crayons, etc. We’d also make ornaments in class using a photo of each kid and letting them decorate their own ornament to give to their parents as a Christmas gift. They’d even paint their own wrapping paper. The parents always appreciated it.

My teacher came by the house. She dropped off a stocking for my son that had crayons, coloring book, stickers, bouncy ball, 2 glue sticks, smelly marker. 
She also had in their a card- and in addition which I thought was a great idea she had little pre paid postage/addressed for my son to write her a note during break. 
I wound go to the dollar store or dollar section at target.

When I did my daughters birthday last year in January we did little treat bags with hot chocolate and marshmallows and bubbles. All very cheap but fun!

They’re still young so honestly maybe a goodie bag with candies and little toys, what little kid doesn’t like sweets lol. Maybe include a cookie in the shape of a gingerbread man, throw some chocolates in there and I’m sure they smell a whole bunch of Christmas themed chocolates/candies. Even little erasers or something school related, example Christmas themed pencils, erasers, sharpeners or something?

Mini hand sanitizer and lotion sounds like a good idea this year. 
As a teacher myself, I just want to remind you that not everyone celebrates Christmas, and to consider calling it a “holiday gift” even if your students all celebrate the same holiday so that they’re exposed to different cultures and holidays early on. 
It’s very kind of you to want to give them a gift; just remember that not everyone is brave enough to share what they believe and/or celebrate. 💕
