Religious Exemptions
I want to start by saying I've mostly heard of this in an American setting and honestly I haven't looked into it much further, so if you are from outside the US and have experience with it I'd be interested to know how it works in other countries.
Basically just asking, do you think religious exemptions in a medical setting are a good thing? In reference to vaccines but also transplants, transfusions etc.
I feel like in the case of transplants and transfusions it should be case by case, and in minors especially it should be based on if it is 100% necessary and then courts should be able to out rule the parents (I believe this is already law in the UK because of the children protection act or similar). For vaccines I think religious exemption should be completely scrapped, vaccines are there for public health and therefore it is not an individual decision. Only medical exemption should matter with vaccines.
Do you think religious exemption should be scrapped, partially scrapped, or should it continue unchanged?
Bonus Question - Have you ever used religious exemption?
