When to ask godparents?

I’m pregnant with my first and I’m wondering when most people ask friends/family to be godparents? Do you usually wait until the baby is born, or do it while pregnant?
I’m planning to ask my cousin who lives in London (I’m in the states.) She is in town for a bit now but will also be back in town in the fall (baby due in summer.) Wondering when it makes most sense to ask.

I waited until after my daughter was born to ask, it's definitely not uncommon to ask before baby is born.
Ask When ever it feels right for you.

My best friend knew that she was going to be my baby’s godmother since 10 years ago lol but it all depends on what you want to do. I really don’t think there’s and wrong or right way to do it.

I am lucky enough to be a god parent to two awesome children. The first time I was asked just after the child was born; the second time, about a couple weeks before he was born. I don’t think there’s an exact best time... once you’re confident with yourself choice, I would ask when it feels right to you!
