Bf says he’s going to see family but fone keeps going to voicemail

So me and my bf have been together for 8 months he says he’s going out to see family but lately when I try to call him his fone goes straight to voicemail like he’s switched his fone off am I being paranoid why is his fone switched off and why is it going to voicemail if he’s with his family
