Antibiotic question! Help a mama out 😀

So I know rule number one with antibiotics is you don’t stop taking it once you’re feeling better, but you take the complete dose for the complete time as prescribed.

So my question is- what have you done if your child just can’t tolerate a certain antibiotic?? It is torture for us both for her to take it and honestly she spits most of it out each time. I’m also thinking it may make her feel a little icky since she has taken other meds much easier in the past.

So do I call her doc and ask for a new Rx for her? My husband said we aren’t giving her anymore so by Monday that will be 4 days with no antibiotic. She took 4 full doses and is fever free and feeling like herself. I worry if we don’t keep giving her an antibiotic it might come back?? I myself have never not finished a prescription so I’m at a loss here and looking for other experiences and friendly advice!

Background- My daughter is 23 months and she was prescribed penicillin for strep throat.
