Is an adopted child the ‘chosen one’

For some reason this lady I know says that since I was adopted that I was the chosen child or the chosen one which got me thinking what does that even mean? She told me that it’s because I got chosen to be in a families life as in when kids get adopted they are chosen to be apart of the family. Normally I would say that when someone adopts a child the family would be happy to have a child in their life especially any child in their life but this lady told me that I got chosen to be in my family’s life which got me feeling like she got it twisted. When families adopt I find it strange that some of them would specifically say about how they want to choose a child.
