How to get a toddler through shots?

My toddler is 2 and has to get shots on Thursday. He’s gotten shots before BUT he was to young to realize it. My son is also a whimp, lol. He cries over the slightest things
Does anyone have any advice to get him through shots? I know he’ll cry but what can I do to prepare him or make the experience not that bad?

PREP. ALL THE PREP.  Big Little Feeling helped. Talk about what’s going to happen and how. If you can buy a dr kit and pretend to give each other shots.

My son just had his 18 month shots. I was so sad for him because now he knows what pain feels like. I was a worried mess. He cried for a few minutes after his shots. But when he saw the bubbles (in the doctors room they switch on bubbles!) he was perfectly fine chasing bubbles around like nothing happened!
I was shocked. He was way worse as a baby with shots. He didn’t even get a fever!

Explain it in simple terms several times that day. A nurse will give you a little poke (playfully pinch him) and it’s like magic! it helps keep sickness away. Mommy and daddy get them too. We don’t like to be sick.
And the step I added that makes a huge difference is once we got to the office, I always reminded my son to say thank you to the nurse afterwards and when he got older, thank you for keeping sickness away!
So he’d cry for a few seconds and I’d distract him and say “hey buddy, remember to say thank you!” He’s sniffle and say thanks and all of us in the room were all grins. 
If he’s not really verbal yet, just distract and redirect as best you can. “All done! Guess where we’re going next?” Park time or snack/treat or even just home, it doesn’t matter, just shift his thinking. Definitely don’t hug him and baby him and feel sorry for him, help him dismiss it 😊💕

My daughter didn’t cry at all at her 2 year shots🤷‍♀️ I figured she flip out since she older but they gave her 2 shots and she didn’t cry for either of them. Don’t stress out over it ahead of time, especially since he has no choice but to get them lol just stay relaxed, and comfort him if he gets upset. Likely he will only be mad for a couple minutes so don’t psych yourself out over it😊
