Speech Therapy

My son turned 2 on the 7th and today he had his two year old check up appointment. At his appointment his doctor recommended referring him to a speech therapist since he isn’t saying 2-3 word sentences yet and only saying about 10-13 words. She said it’s common for boys his age because their so active and don’t want to take the time to actually learn new words. My husband and I have constantly been trying to work with him on saying new words and 2-3 word sentences but no luck. I know speech therapy will help him and be good for him, I’m just currently feeling like a failure as a parent and like I’m letting him down. 😞
