Is it better to be induced at 39 or 40 weeks?

I’m scheduling an induction if he isn’t here by that time, but is it better at 39 weeks or 40 or the middle?

Neither. You should wait until baby is ready if you don’t have a medical reason to be induced. It’s always a risk for c-section, long labour, etc.

40 as that is when your due date is, gives baby longer to cook :) if it’s elective. If there’s a reason I’m sure you and your doctor would know best!

I would say wait as long as you can, all 3 of mine were induced past 40 weeks. They all came pretty quick and I think it's because they were really ready and just needed a push. The next one will be induced at 39 weeks only because I am over 40 years old and stillbirth risks increase.

I would do it closer to the due date if it’s elective as you give your body the opportunity to go into labour naturally. If it’s for a reason then obviously it depends on what your doctor thinks :)
