3 Weeks Postpartum

Oh, postpartum. No two are the same, just like birth. Breasts and emotions are tender. Some days are sweet, some are hard. Photos often make postpartum look blissful, but it certainly doesn’t always feel that way. A full nights sleep doesn’t exist anymore. Eating a meal, nursing my baby, and folding laundry takes up the entire day. Dishes pile up. And there’s no hope for a clean house with a 3 year old running around. Becoming an entrepreneur, I trained myself to always be working on something. Now is a time when I’m forced to slow down, and one of my biggest challenges is to simply let things be as they are. So, I sit here and inhale the oxytocin-inducing smell of my darling baby’s head. And practice just being.
