redo the mantle. you need something on the wall, either hanging decor or artwork. i would add plants (real or artificial) to the mantle along with some decor that will brighten the space.

I don’t know how far you want to go as in decor, paint, or construction..but you could do a nice built in around it..keep the mantle but add shelves or something
