My step mom won’t let me work

Okay so I just been adopted by my dad girlfriend(my step mom) I been trying to work since summer of last year I been asking for my ssn sense then, she kepted telling me I’ll give it too you soon it’s been now 8 months I asked her today she’s like I can stop you from working till you 18 I’m like uh excuse me, I’m trying too make my own money so I won’t have to ask for money so I can get the stuff I really need like hair products school stuff shoe nice things food and stuff like that and save so I can move as soon as possible from this lady😒like has anybody ever experienced this and how did you deal with it?

P.S I’m also 17, I used to work but then lossed my job cause I didn’t have my ssn on time.
