Would u take your 16 month old on a day trip 3 hours there and 3 hours back?

I want to visit my dad in my hometown for his bday (it would just be my dad and me and my brother and son so no covid concerns). I took my son there once when he was 4 months old and it wasnt a problem but now that he is 16 months and quite older I'm nervous! My husband doesnt think we should go but I really want to!

Update. I'm going to go! We will get out of the car at the halfway point and walk around both ways! Wish me luck lol

I would leave really early in the am while it still dark so they sleep and then same for at night .

We drive 4 hours there and 4 hours back to my parents house. Most times we drive there on day 1, spend 2 more days there, and leave the morning of the 4th day. It’s totally do-able! I’ve been making that trip since my son was 9 months and he is now just over 3. We leave right before nap time and then when they woke up we went through the McDonalds drive through as a treat for lunch.

I think it depends if he’s a car rider, you’ll need some stuff to occupy him unless he sleeps majority of the way there and back.
