Steam mop?

Does anyone here make use of a steam mop? I battle to keep the house clean and I feel a steam mop might make it a bit easier. We have birds who are extremely messy (I can clean now and in two hours time it's a complete mess again), they fling their food out (bird owners will relate), and due to shortness of time I don't get around to doing a major clean more than once a week. I also take an old floor polisher to the tiles once a month.

Is the steam mop worth it?
