social distancing/staying home drama

No negativity please. I am not asking if what my husband and I are doing is right. Only looking to relate to others facing the same thing.

My husband and I have been social distancing/staying at home as much as possible/limiting our social visits to only my parents as we trust their actions since covid began. We choose to take it seriously and would prefer to avoid the virus if possible until we can get vaccinated. I am also 14 weeks pregnant now. My daughter is online for school, we do mostly grocery pickup, etc. We are taking precautions.

Our choices have been met with anger, judgment and extreme disrespect from my in laws and most of my husband’s side of the family. We’ve been talked to like we are foolish, “living in fear”, and being ridiculous. We didn’t attend a family wedding where there were 100+ people in attendance without masks being worn or distancing and you’d think we murdered someone. Because of the way we’ve been treated, we’ve chosen to really distance ourselves from this side of the family. My husband only texts his mom and dad sometimes. They act as though we are doing this for no reason and play the victims to everyone else around them.

Is anyone else going through this right now? I just don’t understand why just because our choices are different, the disrespect and badmouthing has to come into play. Most days I let it roll off my back but in announcing our pregnancy, we’ve gotten some rude comments about them not getting to see our kids or now the baby and again judgement of our choices and I’m so sick of it!
