Husband and wife share a an account. Wife and husband both has their job Direct deposited to the account. Husband had password for online account info. Husband has his own separate account with second job direct posit going into the account wife has no access to that account ( husband not willing to give password) is that fair

This may be a bit out there but I would think he doesn't want you to see what he has been paying for in that account. This happened to my friend and we was going to brothels!! He was such a nice guy no one would have EVER guessed it and they had a great relationship.. It shocked everyone..

Everyone is different. Personally me and my husband have a joint account where our stuff gets paid from and each have our own personal account. We settled on what each contributes to bills and i transfer my part to our joint account. He doesnt have info to mine nor i to his. And honestly i dont want it. I can ask him how much he has and he'll respond honestly so i dont really care.

Fair or unfair is so relative to individual relationships. If it were my marriage, no, it wouldn't fly. I agree with the PP that the password being a secret is a flag. Just my opinion.

My husband and I have a joint account then I have a seperate account that I use for spare money I treat our kids with for going to the movies or out to eat we both have each other's passwords and access to everything

We have all shared all everything. I don't believe in separate accounts, because the family is a singular unit, and money is vital, and it's neither to be hoarded nor squandered selfishly. And it's about trust.... But my family has always been that way. Even my grandmother. But other people do as they see fit for them. If you feel he doesn't trust you or is keeping something from you, then that's a problem. That is disrespectful or secretive or selfish... "fair" isn't really the issue... But trusting and trustworthy.

When you two got married you promised to each other that "what's mine is his and what's his is mine"...that's how I look at it. No need for secrets and not knowing passwords. You are married, you are a team.

I have my account where my direct deposit goes and my husband is an authorized user on my account. He knows the password but doesn't have his own card. ( we needed to have him on the account t to deposit wedding checks last year.) He has his own account as well where his direct deposit goes, I know the password, can use his card willingly, but don't have my own card to his account. He also has two of his own credit cards and so do I. We both know each others information to these cards.

This works for us. It's about what works for you. Talk to him about it and give him the benefit of the doubt.

I would want to know why he wants that account separate. Even if you didn't have access to the funds I think you should be able to see what is being done with the account because it sounds odd he's keeping that from you, but is possible he might just want the funds from his second job to be just his which I could understand, but if that's the case it would be more fair if you also had funds that were just yours.
