After having a miscarriage in early trimester, is it selfish to wait until 15 weeks to tell anyone if I am expecting?

I want to wait until I'm at least 12-15 weeks. 3 years ago it was so devastating to have to tell my 9 year old that the baby didn't make it. My 4 yr old didn't realize what was going on. Now they are 12 and 7 and I don't want to tell them, or anyone else for that matter, until I'm in the clear. Has anyone else experienced this? I feel like its the best decision for me but I'm also considering other ppls feelings also.

I was just thinking about this. If/when I get pregnant again after our loss at 12 weeks, I will probably go as long as I can without announcing. My first pregnancy we announced to family and close friends. Next time I plan to tell my parents, my husband's parents and our 2 brothers. That's it until I can't hide it any more. I'm sure I will be excited and let it slip to a few more people, but it's not selfish to keep it to yourself.

I had a hard time choosing the poll but your question was are you selfish for wanting to wait to tell no you aren't selfish after that traumatic experience I'd do the same thing I have 1 child and I've had 1 miscarriage if I do become pregnant again id wait too

I chose "it's up to you", but I've had two miscarriages (13 and 6 weeks) and one live birth (she just turned two) and when I finally get my BFP this time around I'm telling EVERYONE! I want this baby to be loved by whom ever wants to love her from the day we find out! Also, that way we can pray and send good vibes for a sticky baby ;)

I accidentally answered yes and I meant no.  It's not selfish and totally understandable.

I voted "only you should decide that" purely because that is a decision that is personal to each situation only you know what is best for yourself & your family.

When I get pregnant myself & my partner will be the only ones who know until at the very least 12 weeks which is when we will tell immediate family, it will not be announced on Facebook or anything like that until after the anatomy scan at 20 weeks.

I understand. I promised myself after my miscarriage, to not tell anyone if I were to get pregnant again, for many reasons. It's a personal choice and do whatever you feel. Good luck with everything xxx
