Is it against the law for an 8 year old to babysit an infant?
Husband’s ex wife has had their children, my step children, ages 8 and 10, babysitting her new baby from about 2 months old until continuing now that he’s one years old, still babysitting.
My husband finds it totally inappropriate that His kids have to babysit on the weekends (and during the week during their zoom school) for their mom. They are making bottles, diapers, everything.
Due to our location, we get the kids every other weekend. We are more in the country and their location is next to their school so that’s why they stay with her full time, even through this Zoom stiff
Anyway, we’re not going to take her to court over this, but she doesn’t understand why its not okay that they are her nearly full-time babysitter.
Isnt this against the law?
EDIT: I thought I was going to get scrutinized on here if I said I’d take her to court. Now I’m getting scrutinized for saying I’m not. But anyway, that’s besides the point. Thank you all for your input. We didn’t want things to get messy for sake of the kids, but we will be handling this through the court now.
As for person who posted about not getting full story from kids: Yes, the kids are watching the now one-year-old while they are on Zoom in class at home. Even their mom has said they are. She says because it’s too expensive and none of our business what goes on in her household, but has admitted to it.
