I need some advice about my smelly clothes.

I’m really thinking I need a new washing machine, but hoping maybe mine will be a quick fix

So here’s the thing. When I wash my clothes, they sometimes smell weird after. I don’t really know how to describe the smell, kind of like mildew.

I think it’s my washer because sometimes when I go to turn over the laundry, the clothes will be soaking wet, and I have to do an extra spin cycle.

I started using tide sport detergent because that says it’s designed for odors. That has helped a little, but not totally

I scrub my machine with vinegar weekly. I feel like I probably should use bleach, but I’m afraid it will bleach everything I wash after

If I turn over the clothes as soon as they are done, that seems to be the most effective, but I can still kind of smell mildew.

My husband doesn’t smell them at all. He thinks it’s all in my head

The fact that my washer needs an extra spin cycle makes me feel like there’s something wrong with it. I’m totally hesitant to buy a new washing machine because I feel like everyone I know who gets a new machine has it broken and needs to be replaced every 2 years. Our machine is really old and hasn’t had problems until now. My mom and mil both got new ones in the last 5 years and I feel like there’s are always broken.

Any suggestions? Does needing an extra spin cycle mean mine is broken or can that be fixed?

Any recommendations on new machines? I don’t mind spending a lot as long as it’s not broken every 6 months
