Doctor/Nurse opinions, please?

Tiffany

Okay ladies, this is a bit of a long post so try to bare with me please. November 4th,2020 I had a Pap smear done. 3 days later I got a positive pregnancy test and went to my doctor to confirm on November 16th. At this appointment they confirmed my pregnancy and also told me the results of my Pap smear were “abnormal” and had been sent off for further testing.

About a week later I got a call saying the results were that I had a minor yeast infection and to inform my new OB at my first appointment. Fast forward to the end of December, I see my new OB and inform them about the minor yeast infection but also let them know that I haven’t had any symptoms. They said to treat with monistat if I did have symptoms but besides that not to worry. Okay, cool. That sounded good to me.

January 15th I had another visit and they did a pelvic/vaginal exam but said they weren’t going to worry about doing another pap since I had just had one. I repeat: I DID NOT GET ANOTHER PAP SMEAR. Today one of the nurses from my OB’s office calls to tell me they got the results from my Pap smear on the 15th, and I kindly informed her that I didn’t get one since I had just had one right before I found out I was pregnant. She told me that I did have one and proceeded to pretty much argue with me and tell me what I did and did not have done on what day. She said there was no record of a Pap Smear being done on November 4th but that I had one on January 15th and the results were abnormal. I told her what my doctor had told me about my November 4th results with the yeast infection and she said the results would have said “Yeast Infection” and not abnormal if that was the case. She said abnormal results can indicate HPV or Pre-Cancerous cells and that I will have another test done when I come back to the office on February 15th.

I asked to speak to my doctor and she said she would leave a note for my doctor to call me. I’m just really frustrated because I know that I didn’t have a Pap smear done last month. My doctor and I discussed it and plus I know the difference between an exam and a Pap smear. I feel like this nurse has either given me someone else’s results or she is mixing up dates and telling me the results from November 4th... even though that still doesn’t make much sense because I have already received those results.

Are there any RNs or Doctors that can give me a little bit of insight on what any of this might mean for me or my unborn child? I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and qualify as high risk due to having 4 pregnancy losses in the last 3 years. This phone call just really stressed me out and confused me.
