Need y'alls advice
I started working December 13th of last year. Worked for a good 5 weeks before he stopped having me come in (I work at Dollar General). I think they just hired too many employees and he's too much of a little bitch to fire me so instead he's just dragging me along.
My MIL came to drop off something today and one of the first things she said was "you need to call that bastard every day and ask if he has work for you". I told him at least 3 times that if he has work or someone calls in sick or whatever to please keep me in mind, I also spoke to the manager at a different DG asking her for work and so far, nothing.
Should I be calling him every day asking for work? I really don't want to cause of anxiety, but ya know, gotta do what you gotta do. It also doesn't help that I need at minimum 3 hours notice before I'm needed. I want to ask if I still have a job, but I don't want to sound unprofessional. I'm annoyed and a little pissed off. What should I say when I call? Also would I qualify for unemployment since Ive only been employed there for two months?? I texted him earlier this week asking him if hours were cut due to covid or too many employees and he never replied.
I have enough money to stretch 8 weeks, but that's it. Word for word, someone write me a script
Edit:
Just thought I'd add this. I was at DG getting a few things today and when I was about to turn down one aisle I saw him stocking and turned around real quick like 'nope, not today' cause I just didnt feel like dealing with him. Now that I think of it, I should've taken that opportunity and spoke to him about my job. Ugh he's just such an annoying person. He's a 60 year old white man that likes to make people feel stupid. Like I make a dumb mistake in front of a customer and he comes unlock the register with his manager key and makes a joke to the customer and makes me feel bad. Like hey wtf I'm new, this is my first job, give me a break
