Did your doc order Hcg test?

I've read of so many cases where the doctors order for the blood hcg tests, and others directly give appointment for 8-9 week ultrasound with no blood tests. 
Why this difference? Is it dependent on country? Or age or risk factors? Or past relationship with the obgyn? Or maybe the PCPs order blood draw and Obgyns don't?

Sometimes with a history of early miscarriage doctors will opt to do HCG testing to ensure the levels double over 48 hours which *usually* points to a viable pregnancy at that point.

I had an HCG test at 4 weeks because I have had 2 chemical pregnancies. My doctor just wanted to see if my HCG was increasing. First ultrasound is at 8 weeks which is when my doctor offers all patients an ultrasound.

I only had a blood test around 6 weeks with my first because of spotting. I didn’t even have the follow up test 2 days later. My numbers were good but he wanted to give me a rhogam shot because I’m rh negative. I didn’t have blood work when I had my MMC or this pregnancy.

Last time I was pregnant they didn’t order tests and just scheduled me for an appointment at 8 weeks, which is normal for that practice. I ended up having an ectopic (they found it before it burst thankfully and I got to keep my tube) Because of my history of ectopic, this time they ordered hcg tests right away to help rule out another ectopic.

Nope mine only did a urine test at my first appointment

My previous pregnancies, HCG was ordered. This one, he did a urine in the office and sent me for the prenatal profile to be done. I was originally scheduled February 16th for my first ultrasound to find out my exact due date (based on lmp, I am 6 wks 1 day), but due to some cramping and me miscarrying my previous 3 pregnancies (last one being twins), they have me going in tomorrow afternoon for an ultrasound.

I'm currently pregnant with my third and I've never an HCG blood test. My doctor just always does an ultrasound at the first appointment around 10 weeks
