Back labor?

What does back labor feel like? 
I’ve never experienced it, but my boyfriend is telling me that’s what I’m experiencing. My lower back just above my tailbone feels like it’s breaking apart. But I’m not having any pain in my abdomen. It gets hard but not painful.

My doctor told me it sounds like the start of labor might be soon, but to monitor for contractions that are 5-8 minutes apart. But my pain is just constant in my back. It’s not coming or going it’s just staying and my abdomen is just getting hard every so often but not consistent either.

Like your back and hips are being ripped in half, honesty!!
My contractions stated as normal period cramps but worse, and then moved to back labour and it was honestly the worst feeling I’ve ever experienced!
Was begging for the epidural after 3 hours of back labour.

I had it my first pregnancy and yes it feels like your back is splitting open. Usually due to babies positions (mine was “sunny side up” ) and in terms of pain in labor it’s one of the worst. Epidural helped immensely. I wish you luck
