Our people had a bad history in this country. Harm was done to our ancestors. They were set aside like they didn’t matter, treated like animals, and made to feel as though they weren’t human. The country, luckily has moved past that. Change has been slow, but it has been occurring and getting better with each passing year. Yes, there are still people who believe in old wrongful ways and we stand up to them. But I feel we are taking a step in the wrong direction. Now I have seen our people being this way towards others, saying they “deserve it for what they did.”? They didn’t do anything. This generation has done nothing like that to us. We hold them accountable for the mistakes of past people? People most of them didn’t even know?

Now I see Yelp with “here are the black owned places in your area” so we can choose to only go to those places. Or Disney plus with “black is king”. I support the media being more inclusive of color. It’s amazing! But specifically calling us out makes me uncomfortable. If another race made a video about them being “king” there would be an uproar. Or if another race demanded to see all the businesses specifically owned by “their kind” it would not be okay in the slightest. I feel there is a huge double standard and I’m really not okay with it....the divide is growing wider and now we are contributing....
