Should I tell them this early?

So I’ve had two interviews for a job and have a really good feeling I’m going to get it. I also just found out that I’m 4 weeks pregnant. My question is should I tell them before I’m hired or wait until I go to the doctor and get it confirmed? I don’t want to be dishonest but at the same time I really need this job.

I wouldn’t tell them at all that early- I would at least wait till about 16 weeks

It’s truthfully not a factor. I wouldn’t announce it until at least 12 weeks because they should hire you or not hire you based on your qualifications. Too many employers will purposefully not hire a woman if they know they’re pregnant, even though it’s against the law. They’ll claim it wasn’t because of the pregnancy and it’s difficult to prove otherwise.

Same thing happened to me. I waited to tell them until it was confirmed by the doctor. Unfortunately I miscarried.

If you knew for a fact you were pregnant then in my professional opinion, yes I would tell them, for the sake of transparency. Especially as you won’t qualify for maternity leave, this would mean that in 9 months they’d be needing to fill the role all over again, be it temporarily until you return (if they decide to work with you) or permanently, as they are not obligated to hold the position for you. However in this case so early on, your OB hasn’t confirmed it, and there’s the possibility it could be a chemical or you could miscarry, so I don’t think you’d be wrong to not say anything yet since you aren’t 100% certain. 
Again, legally you’re not obligated to tell them either way, but these are just my thoughts for starting with your best foot forward.

Unpopular opinion: you need to at least ask what their policies are on maternity leaves because some arent obligated to give you maternity leave until youve been there for a year
