Low iron

Mummylove12

I know this is a common issue, I’ve been struggling with low iron stores (ferritin) for my whole pregnancy. Started as a 9, then got it to 11 and I was feeling very nauseous taking the tablets so I went on to a liquid iron that I could manage (I tried to request a iron infusion but they said because my heamaglobin is not bad they wouldn’t do it.) at my last test my ferritin is now at 5 and heamaglobin is at 12 which I think is just within normal limits now but ferritin is very low.

My second labour i haemorrhaged afterwards and so with my third my midwives made sure my iron was high when I delivered now the doctors don’t even seem to care when I mention it and they’re the lowest they’ve ever been in pregnancy. 😩 I’m still taking the liquid iron and hoping it goes up, I’m tempted to take a double dose daily (which is safe) but if I do the bottle lasts me only 1 week and cost $23-$27 depending on where I can get it so it’s not cheap.

I wish they would just give me the infusion now so I didn’t have to worry about it. I’m 37 weeks but my next appointment I’ll be 38+5 and possibly to close to book one in.
