Is it too late to produce more milk?

So since the beginning I supplemented with formula because I had no knowledge and thought I was starving the baby. (Ik I should’ve been more prepared). Obviously bc of that my supply tanked. I now make 0.5 oz with both breasts! If I EBF now, will my supply go up? (I am 6 weeks PP). However, I’m scared this time I actually will starve the baby since I make only 0.5. What’s your guys thoughts?

I know that it’s possible, but I don’t think you should switch exclusively to nursing when you are not producing enough at the moment to fill baby up. I would suggest nursing at each feeding before providing formula. Look up power pumping and give that a shot. Most importantly, talk to a lactation consultant. The hospital I delivered at has them on staff and available free of charge for all new moms. Maybe yours does too? They can definitely guide you in trying to reestablish your supply.

I'd definitely speak with an LC to make a game plan. I think you have a good chance of success since you're only 6 weeks pp. I second that you shouldn't go to EBF right away but nurse first and then offer formula. What will also help is nursing on demand for comfort, ie no pacifiers, and doing a lot of skin to skin time to stimulate those milk making hormones.
