Breastfeeding concern
When I had my daughter, it took awhile for my milk to come in after being induced. My baby latched and the lactation consultant said she got my colostrum. But she also said I had flat nipples and threw a breast shield my way and showed me a few ways to hold baby and that was that.
Needless to say, with my delayed milk supply and belief that I had to use a nipple shield which quickly disheartened me, I gave up and formula fed and did some supplementing with the pump when my milk finally came in 5 days later.
So I look at my nipples and honestly they aren't flat. They have hard peaks that point out, but they just aren't that long, but I wouldn't call them flat. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and I want to give breastfeeding another try. It isn't nipple feeding, so my short nipples shouldn't be an issue, right? I don't want to use a nipple shield at all. Should I bring my pump to the hospital to help the milk supply get going? Anything I can do to NOT use a nipple shield?
Thanks!
