Molar Pregnancy Advice

Nicky

PSA: I’m not sure what group I should really put this in....

Hey, I’m looking for advice from someone who has gone through a molar pregnancy. I recently experienced one and last week had the D&C procedure to make sure everything was cleared. I have been told by my doctor that it had to be an emergency procedure because it could be toxic, and that it had to go to testing. She also said she would only be comfortable with me trying again to conceive until after providing her with 6 months of negative pregnancy tests.

My question is, is this normal? That waiting period. My aunt had a Molar Pregnancy and she got pregnant the month afterwards, and conceived fine. Should I be worried that my doctor is being so cautious with me? I have no idea what to think, as she’s being quite vague.

Thank you!

Nope sounds completely normal. I had a molar pregnancy December 2019 and had blood tests every few weeks to make sure my hormone levels went down. I was told to wait six months to try again as well. Good luck!

They monitor you for six months to make sure you don’t have cancer. Molar pregnancy can cause cancer. If you got pregnant sooner it’s hard for them to determine if your hormones are rising from the new pregnancy or cancer.
