I had to really decide if my job was worth it
I almost yelled at this lady today. She was just awful, and it wasn't even to me, it was to another customers. I work in retail around dumbasses all day. I'm a cashier. There was a man who had a toddler and was trying to buy some formula, milk, and ibuprofen. He was about 13 dollars short so he told me to put ibuprofen back. His total was like 7.86. He just dumped out a pouch full of change trying to count it all out. The women behind us was being so rude and telling him to hurry up. Even though there was another open lane with someone who had like two items. She could have moved. She was making snide comments saying "This is ridiculous" "Hurry up". He was ignoring her but I can tell he was embarrassed. I would have paid for it myself, but we aren't allowed to and my boss was right there. She then said "This is why you don't have kids you can't afford". My boss heard this and my boss decided to break the rules. She told him to keep all his change and she's got it. He apologized and was embarrassed. She said it was fine. He thanked us and took his toddler and baby stuff and my boss even covered the ibuprofen. The lady in line then came up demanding a discount because he got one and my boss said "No" so she starts saying she will report us to corporate and that she deserves a discount if he got one. My boss says "I'm not engaging in this conversation anymore, Have a good day, thank you". She decided not to buy anything and said "You just lost a customer! I won't be back!" I said out loud "You promise?" And my boss laughed. I have a great boss.
