Hydronephrosis 36 weeks update
Just wanted to update! My pregnancy has been normal and healthy up until my 36 week growth scan when the tech noticed one of my babies kidneys was enlarged with fluid and a possible blockage. I followed up with the specialist today, who confirmed my baby does have have hydronephrosis (fluid in the kidney(s)) and a blockage along the tract to the bladder. As far as we know it is slightly more concerning than the average case. We will be keeping an eye on it via ultrasound weekly until she is born. Then we will continue monitoring and have her see a pediatric urologist / specialist to decide if she needs any further treatment or surgery to remove the blockage. A lot of the times, the blockage will flush itself out after birth. But my specialist did not seem hopeful this would be the case for us. Regardless, I am staying hopeful and praying that god place his healing hand on our baby girl and all will be well without surgery. If needed, that is gods plan and we will do whatever it takes to make sure baby is healthy. Aside from the fluid and blockage, everything else looks wonderful and organs seem to be functioning properly on the inside. Both of my doctors (regular ob and specialist) have decided to induce me before 39 weeks just to make sure baby has enough fluid while she’s on the inside, since the kidney may not be letting back out enough fluid. Will find out in 2 days the day I will be induced if she doesn’t decide to come sooner! Thank you all who prayed and sent well wishes for baby and I. I will keep updating as we continue this journey 🙏💓
