Finally a baby girl
So it’s been a couple weeks since I had my baby girl.
Backstory: I was hospitalized for 15 days prior to be induced. ( far less than the 61 days with my son) I had preeclampsia. I knew about a week before I had her that I would have her within the week.
My bp went up for the second time in a couple days so back over to L&D for the night. Come morning my ob came in and my bp was elevated again. They took it manually and still elevated. I said, “ I’m so done” she said come back in 10 minutes check again. This was at 7:30ish am. Still elevated, I looked at the nurse and said, “ she is going to call it” nurse said, “we will see” not a minute later my dr comes in and says let’s do it. She starts by checking me. I’m 1 cm ( being generous) and baby girl is -3 so she started the folley catheter and cytotec to soften my cervix. They also started magnesium and pitocin. Now things are kind spotty. I’m not sure how long the folley catheter was in but as soon as it came out I got an epidural. I had been throwing up and dry heaving since the magnesium started. So sitting up to get the epidural wasn’t exactly fun. While the anesthesiologist was trying to stick a huge needle in in my back I was desperately trying not to puke. As soon as they nurse said it was in I threw up. After that they broke my water. At some point I was able to sleep, but off and on. I vaguely remember being covered in warm blankets including my head. My husband told me later that my bp had gone to 90/50 ( I was induced because it was 175/112) and my body temp was 95.0 degrees. They decided they needed to turn off epidural to help with bringing my bp up, eventually I was able to have the epidural and they halted the amount of magnesium I was getting. I slept a little more and then it was time to push, but first we had to wait for dr to get done next door with their delivery. I am throughly numbed and not feeling anything. Pushed and dr said well,” she has her fist by her face and trying to come out cattywompus” so she had to manually move her. 2 more pushes and she was out! 5 lbs 1 oz 18 inches long. She had to go to the nicu for monitoring due to magnesium. They also were concerned with her breathing. Now she is still in the nicu, no breathing issues but having trouble feeding.
