Two last names without a hyphen?

Does anyone know the process of legally having two last names without a hyphen? I know it’s a thing but how does it work on paperwork and doing the name change legally? Do you just fill in the last name field with two last names including the space? Anyone have two last names without a hyphen? Have you ran into any issues with paperwork

🙋🏻‍♀️ that'd be me! I have two last names, no hyphen. I added my husband's last name. All I did was go to social security for my new social security card and filled out name forms. I wasn't sure how un/common it might be so I said it out loud several times to the man at the desk, "that's right, two last names. Two separate last names, NO hyphen". Got my new license and ss card and everything came back with 2 names. Same with medical. My prescriptions and paper work sometimes come back with both names put together without a space but it's never an issue. They ask you your last name and birth date and I always say "I have two, S******* L*****" and go from there and it's totes good to go. I like it for identity security, personally. You'll never see another person with the same name combo as me and it helps verify who I am and there's zero mix up.

I have 2 last names with no hyphen and I just wrote that in the last name section when I went to change my name after I got married. 🤷‍♀️

My step sisters have 2 non hyphenated last names and hate it. Both names are fairly long, and most forms don’t have enough space. Sometimes it ends up getting truncated, and sometimes one or the other gets omitted. It’s definitely a pain point, but if the names are short, there shouldn’t be an issue.

Ummm just writing them on the BC is what I did? I don’t see why there’s a ‘process’... I have no hyphen with my kids name..

I just did it on the birth certificate. If its not a legal document sometimes i just put the first last name 🤷🏻‍♀️ but legally they have both just with a space between
