Possible ectopic pregnancy/pregnancy of unknown location
Today was a bad day. I just got a positive pregnancy test last week. So potentially 5w1d. Had some sharp pains so doctor told me to go to the ER. They did some tests and an ultrasound. The ER doctor said there’s a culmination of symptoms pointing towards a ectopic pregnancy but that they couldn’t tell for sure yet. Then the PA came in a few min later and told me they were calling an on call obgyn to come do surgery to remove the ectopic pregnancy 😭 so the on call obgyn came in and reviewed everything and said it’s too early to know for sure but it’s a possibility. They couldn’t find the baby so they called it “a pregnancy of unknown location”. So I have to go in on Monday to see if my hcg levels go up and if not likely surgery and if they are later in the week I could get an ultrasound and see if they can find the baby. I don’t even know what to think right now. It’s been a rollercoaster.
Has anyone had a similar experience where the pregnancy ended up being viable?
Update: had blood work today but they didn’t call my with results. I started spotting this afternoon 🥺
Update: my hcg went from 700s to over 2000 and we had an ultrasound. Saw our baby right where it’s supposed to be. I’m so happy I didn’t move forward with any procedures.
