Can people tell me some of the experiences you may of had with a midwife, good and bad please. On the fence. Experiences of toronto based midwives would be amazing if anyone is from here.

I'm using a midwife at a birthing center. But if I need or want to go to the hospital she has priveledges there so that won't need to change unless a c section was needed. So far with just having a few first appointments it has been really great. She spends so much time with me and takes my concerns seriously. I've been so happy with this choice so far.

I had a Dr with my first and a midwife with my second.  I won't be having a midwife again.  I did not like it. I'm for Dr's all the way.

really needed (such as just to 'speed up' a labor for the benefit of staff), it tires out the mother and stresses out the baby. This leads to c-sections as well, because of unnecessary Pitocin. Both of these things are explained ithe documentary.... There are certainly women who need to give birth in hospitals, but most don't. It isn't a sickness, it is a beautiful experience.

​ It is just as safe as a hospital birth for low-risk pregnancies. Midwives put emergency plans in place, as well. I highly recommend using a midwife.

I am in school in preparation of becoming a midwife. I am absolutely in love with the profession. Please do watch "The Business of Being Born". It is on Netflix. You can also read "Baby Catcher" by Peggy Vincent. It is a much more personal experience and it is absolutely beautiful...

​Unnecessary c-sections are common in hospitals. It happens when they want to get women in and out as quickly as possible to make more money. They won't let you labor as long as needed. They normally limit it to two hours. They will try to scare you into a c-section, and say you and your baby are in danger. It is very selfish. I'm having my first and am using a midwife! I'm so happy I got in and so far they have been great! As long as nothing comes up to complicate things I'll be set to have baby at home I don't want to have to be rushed in the hospital or have to drive there and back. I will know exactly who is going to be there and they will know and understand how and what I want. I would google pros and cons. I have 4 friends who have used them in 5 births and 1 did end up in hospital 10 hours before delivery upon the midwives instructions the rest were healthy safe home birth. The one who went to hospital is going again with baby 2 but still using we midwife. I know my husband is a little nervous of home birth so I did tell him that the birthing center is an option if he is terribly uncomfortable with everything happening at home but he will heed to talk with the midwife first
