Cancel, Accountability, or Marketing?
We have all been hearing about "cancel culture" a lot. Recently I have heard it called "accountability culture". I don't think it is exactly either of those, it seems like a most of these companies are just trying to appeal to the most consumers as possible. Millennials who tend to be more progressive are mostly in their 30's now and one of the larger consumer demographics while the Boomers who tend to be less progressive are still a large demographic they are retiring and have less income.
Having employees say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" is a similar example. While a some people will be offended by not hearing "Merry Christmas" a lot more people will be marketed to with "Happy Holidays". I doubt the CEO of Kroger's cares one way or anther.
