That right there is what I'm so damn sick of seeing on tik tok rn🙄 how do people not understand that this rarely happens and millions of people are without power right now and are sitting in the cold?! Ignorance is powerful in these people I swear🤦‍♀️

Personally I understand but where I live it often gets to -20 and due to wind chill can feel like -25. I'm in the southern part of Idaho and it just seems weird that some of the things I've seen are even possible. I recently saw things like whole tanks of frozen aquariums and such. We also have our power go out a million times every winter but never had things freeze like that, even when it is out for 4 days and get down to -20. So I understand that this never happens and is such a crazy weird thing to happen but it doesn't make sense how some of things are happening as I would have assumed that the homes are better insulated to keep out the heat. I don't think it's ignorance. I think it's more of surprise and curiosity. They're wondering why and are trying to connect as well. They're like "hey, where we are it's pretty cold too. That's crazy that you have that happening"

And Tim toks are meant to be comedy if you don’t like them making fun of where you’re from stop watching. 
I literally get made fun of daily for living in an igloo and riding a moose to work. (We don’t really do that).

I'm curious why houses aren't better insulated? Insulation protects against yalls insane heat as well as cold. 
And I guess we don't understand why y'all have different codes and requirements when it comes to electricity 🤷 why does your electric go out at 50°f warmer than the north's?

My father in law lives in Texas and has been three days without water or power. He moved from California last year. I feel so bad but how can you really prepare for something you didn’t even know could get that bad?! Like what is everyone else doing? What’s the solution to this?
