How to protect newborn from covid?
For anyone who has given birth during the pandemic, or anyone given advice from their dr, how did you or do you plan to transport your newborn from the hospital room to your car?
Last time I was in a wheelchair and my husband carried the car seat with our baby without any covering over the car seat, but now I’m worried about COVID exposure as we’re walking in the hallway. Obviously my husband and I will be wearing a mask, but how can we protect our baby? Would a car seat canopy be safe (or even allowed) for walking a few minutes through the hospital? I live in California in a county with extremely high Covid-19 cases so I’m super worried about this! A week after the baby is born we will also need to take her to the pediatrician office so I need advice to keep her safe when we’re around other people in that clinic as well.
Obviously once we’re home we will be quarantined with the baby and we’re not allowing any visitors until everyone is vaccinated and cases drop off, but I’m due in April so I know the hospital will still be dangerous at that time. Please help!
