She basically delivered herself

Jessica • RN and mama to four beautiful baby girls ❤️

My third little girl entered the world six minutes to midnight on Valentine's day. I had been scheduled to go in on the 17th for an induction at 39+1 due to gestational diabetes requiring insulin. I was happy because my birth with my second was such a nightmare and at least with an induction, everything would be controlled. Baby girl had other plans. When we got to triage at L and D around 7 pm they said we were only at a 3-4 cm but since I had a history of a fast delivery, they were going to admit me. I asked for the epidural right away and got it pretty quickly, around 9 pm. At that point, I was about a 5 and the doctor came to break my water. At that point they told me the baby's face was presenting first so they did the best they could to get her head where it needed to be. They had me on my side with one leg in a stirrup. When they came to help me switch sides, I told them I was feeling pressure off and on. They said to let them know when the pressure was more constant. About five minutes later, I was feeling more pressure and reached down and thought I could feel her head. Luckily, the charge nurse was walking in at that point and I told her I think she needed to check me now. She lifted the blanket and told me to close my legs 🤣 She got the doctor there within a minute and I sat up to watch her come out and that was all she needed to be fully born. My husband passed on cutting the cord, so I did it. Then, once they were satisfied baby was ok (there was meconium in the water when it broke) I got to do skin to skin for a while. She's my only baby who hasn't had a latch issue, she's breastfeeding like a champ. Despite pooping about a million times she left the hospital without losing any weight.
