I was induced at 37 weeks for medical reasons but I don’t think they’d do it just because.

I think most docs will say no unless there’s a medical reason. My office allows you to induce at 39 weeks if you have a decent enough reason. (Ex my doc said I could because I was in terrible pain and had been doing physical therapy for it.)

Most doctors wont consider an induction until 39 weeks. They dont consider babies full term until 39 weeks.

For reference, this is why most docs dont do elective inductions before 39 weeks anymore. They used to do elective inductions because of "failure to cope" or the mom wasnt coping well with pregnancy at 37 weeks but that is a very old practice.

No. I’ve had very serious gestational diabetes, maxed out on medicine since 8 weeks and I’m still being expected to go until 38 weeks 1day. I have 1 week and 6 days to go! Lol

Asking and getting it are two different things. So absolutely you can ask, but unless you have a reason to be induced earlier, they likely wouldn’t.. reasons typical include high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, iugr, placenta problems, baby already 7-8lbs etc

You can always ask your Dr how soon you think you could be induced. Unless there are underlying risks fir continuing your pregnancy, they’ll likely make you wait until your due date at the absolute earliest.
