Peanut butter?

Did anyone else’s pediatrician tell you to start giving tiny bit of peanut butter to baby? I thought it was weird. This was at her recent 4 month appointment. He said to start seeing if she’s allergic to it.. 
I started peanut butter with my first baby when he was 6 months.

I'm not starting my little on any food until she's 6mo, whether she gets the clear from her pediatrician at 4mo or not. I follow what the AAP says in that regard.
But, the earlier you introduce common allergy foods, the less likely they are to be allergic to them.

I wait till 6 months but I just lay a really thin layer on a piece of toast. Don’t make it too thick because peanut butter can be a choking hazard!  But I feel like the earlier you introduce the better.

The reccomendation when my first was little was still to do it after 1. My pediatrician didn't mention anything to me but I have read that they recommend introducing it earlier around 6 months now.

If babies are showing some decent development some doctors will say you can steal giving food beyond milk at 4 months instead of waiting for 6 months. Some early, small exposure to peanut butter supposedly is good for mitigating an allergy, although I have heard that as being through breastmilk and not direct peanut butter to mouth. I think most people start with pureed veggies.

We just started food at four months. Recommended by our pediatrician. We were told not to introduce highly allergic foods until 6 months though

I’m not starting food until  6 months, but I did just sign up for three months with Ready, Set, Food. They send little powder packets with small doses of food allergens (milk, egg, soy, peanuts) that you mix with breast milk and feed via bottle.

Yep. The earlier you introduce foods that kids are commonly allergic to, the better! I’ve let my gal lick some peanut butter off my fingers. Our ped said we could start more solids, but I don’t think she’s quite ready so for now we’re sticking with licking peanut butter 😅
