I really don’t get the whole “sitting up” thing: 
For those who say their babies can sit up, do they put themselves into a sitting position? I mean the following sequence - laying, getting onto their fours, sitting up ? 
Or do you put your baby into a sitting position? And they are able to sit then? 
Lots of European pediatricians are against the second option, when you put your baby into a sitting position yourself (including using baby sit up chairs, jumparoos, etc). If a baby can’t put themselves into a sitting position, it means their spine is not ready yet, and artificially putting your babies into sitting may cause micro traumas...

For short periods & I still put a boppy pillow around him just in case

Kind of, sometimes. I feel like he’s more lazy rather than not being able too LOL
