My SO is moving out. So I’ll be on my own. I work FT now making $35.44 working 35 miles away from home. I have an opportunity closer to home 16 miles from home. I’m negotiating and asking for minimum 3 days a week now with potential for 4 days a week once covid lets up and they can have more admissions (more work). I’m asking $50 an hour which they accepted. They already said they put down on paper as FT to get the benefits package. So I’d be going from $73,700 to $62,400. 5 days-> 3 days. I started out at my current job at 63k and can’t remember how much I took home but I’ve been trying to crunch numbers to see if I can make ends meet. Obviously I’d be better off and have way more cushion with my current job but I’m getting so burnt out driving and the work vibe has gone to shit (management has run it into the ground over the past year). In my field PT or temp jobs are usually always available so I could do that to pick up more but it might not always be guaranteed. I like making my own money and not depending on anyone. I’m scared and thinking it’s not a good opportunity at this time.
