Finally a happy update šŸ§”

BāœØ

After the past two weeks, I really started to feel defeated, depressed, and hopeless. I thought I was going to be bringing this baby into the most stressful sad situation, but things are finally looking up.

For those who havenā€™t followed, I lost my home after five days of no power from the winter storm that hit Texas. On the fifth night, our neighbors pipes froze and burst, causing our ceiling to collapse from multiple places and flooding our entire living, dining, and kitchen space. We left immediately and had to drive through terrible conditions to get to my brothers house an hour away. Two days later we were told we wouldnā€™t be able to move back as the damage was too extensive and they couldnā€™t give me a time of when itā€™d be finished. So we were forced to terminate our lease and became homeless, with our two girls and me being 38 weeks pregnant.

Add Covid and the housing market disaster itā€™s caused, and it has been awful, slim pickings. Iā€™ve been looking for a home for almost a week now and I figured ā€œpeople have got to see our situation and sympathize right? We should be able to get into something soon!ā€ The worry was that since I had gone on maternity leave early and I didnā€™t have any income to add, but we had plenty in savings so I didnā€™t think itā€™d be an issue. But we were picked over multiple times this past week, people didnā€™t care. I felt even more hopeless. Finally my realtor reached out to her network and explained the entire situation, and someone reached out immediately. We were able to fill out paperwork and have a lease ready all in one day, and the owners were so accommodating offering us discounts and anything we needed. It restored my faith, and most importantly, we now have a home as of last night šŸ

I am being induced tomorrow morning and the house wonā€™t be ready to move into yet so weā€™ll have to stay at a hotel temporarily for a few days. But I canā€™t tell you the relief I feel to know I wonā€™t be spending the first moments with my baby worried about where we will be in a week.

Also itā€™s a total upgrade from our apartment! itā€™s a new build townhome with an extra bedroom, a playroom, another bathroom, and a big yard for my pups and kids. I feel so blessed to have gotten here, from where we were a week ago.

Now all I have to worry about is the amount of pain Iā€™m about to endure to have our final addition šŸ˜‚ I cannot wait for her to get here šŸ§”
