Hi all, we have decided on Marcelo George Gibson for our first boy. (I’m 8 weeks and we are waiting for the anatomy scan, but I actually think it’s a girl! Better to be prepared for both!) Our last name is Hispanic and begins with a P.

Just checking to see if there are any hurtful nicknames, associations, etc. that we may not have thought of? The initials are MGGP.

We are sold on the name as long as it won’t cause any hurt to the child :)

Marcelo - Baby’s abuelito, who was much beloved and unfortunately passed away. I already know this may be associated with the nickname “Marshmallow”, a childhood classmate named Marcello was called this, but it’s kinda cute and he didn’t really mind.

George - Baby’s great grandpa (my grandfather) who is one of the kindest men in the world; currently living with dementia and may not live much longer.

Gibson - Family name on my side; my brother’s middle name and very meaningful to my father and family. The Gibsons are extraordinary people, one of them is a lauded astronaut, one an acclaimed pastor and scholar, and generally wonderful folks.
