One of my friends asked me in a date

I have a friend from High school and everyone always said he liked me. I didn't really believe them because in my eyes, he just saw me as a friend. Last night we were talking on the phone about whether or not I was going back to college next semester. He ended up asking me on a date for next Friday. I said sure. Where to? And he said "Idk.... I didn't think I get this far." I have no idea what that means but it made me laugh 😆
